Southeast Georgia Joint Development Authority

Economic Development is a group effort and that is what the Southeast Georgia Joint Development Authority is all about – working together.  In 2004, six counties in Southeast Georgia came together to accomplish something great.  Combined, they were able to finance a connection track that dramatically reduces the amount of time it takes to move cargo out of the Port of Brunswick.  The project was hugely beneficial for the entire region and as a result, the Port of Brunswick has continued to see explosive growth.

Since then, the counties of Brantley, Camden, Charlton, Glynn, McIntosh, and Wayne have continued to further develop the region’s economic assets and work together for the growth and economic development of the entire region.

In the counties of Brantley, Camden, Charlton, Glynn, McIntosh, and Wayne, you will find all the transportation assets that you need for your business to succeed.  Southeast Georgia is home to the Port of Brunswick, the nation’s second busiest roll on / roll off cargo port and has quick access to the Port of Jacksonville and the Port of Savannah.  Interstate 95 goes through the heart of the region and Interstate 10 and 16 border the north and south.  Access to the skies is available via Jacksonville International Airport, Savannah / Hilton Head International Airport, or the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport that offers three daily 37 minute flights to Atlanta, Georgia.  The southeast Georgia region is perhaps best known for the extensive rail system that  moves cargo in and out of the area’s ports.
